40 Days of Prayer

We are embarking on a 40 Days of Prayer for MVC. We are structuring our prayer around
1 Tim 1:18-2:6. Paul encourages Timothy in 4 different types of prayer and we are modeling our prayer around these.

REQUESTS- This is on a personal level. We are asking ourselves- What do we want to see God do IN us and THROUGH us as we are involved with MVC? We are also asking the Holy Spirit to bring to our minds prophetic words of all sorts back to our memory, so that we can remember them, reflect on them and pray them over our lives.

PRAYER- Each week we will be focusing on the core values of our church and praying specifics about them each day. We want to see these desires become a reality as our church forms.

INTERCESSION- As a church we value building relationships with those outside the church community and seeing God do good things in people's lives- regardless of their religious or non-religious background. We each have 6 people in our lives that we pray for God to show His favor and love to as we are involved in their lives.

GRATITUDE- Verbalizing our thanks seems to be a key in seeing God's presence released, so we plan to spend extra time during these 40 days worshiping God in various forms.

We are also wanting to couple our prayer with fasting in various forms. We believe fasting adds a significant dynamic to our prayers that can lead to breakthroughs and spiritual growth.

We are looking forward to all the good things God wants to do as we embark together on 2009 40 Days of Prayer!
